This is the most recent guitar distortion pedal inside the Twin Tube line from Seymour Duncan and it's nicely and truly built to obtain a mid-range scooped metal guitar sound. The pedal also functions a enhance button which will put your distortion over the top for solos. The tubes in this pedal are 62051 pentode tubes which will last a lifetime without needing to be replaced and will deliver fantastic distortion for every little thing from old school metal to modern thrash. Also have a look at Fulltone Fulldrive 2.
The sound which you get with overdrive is a sort of warm, dirty, "beefed up" sound. It isn't meant to add huge amounts of screaming metal distortion. Rather, it really is an overall enhance to the guitar signal with out any added tonal coloration. The sound is similar to that of a tube amp when it can be "cranked up". If you are performing blues and rock then maybe an overdrive pedal will give you the sound which you want.
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 is usually a extra intense overdriven sound with added tonal coloration. You'll find as quite a few sorts of distortion as there are players.It all depends upon taste--anything from a fuzz tone to a full-on, notched-out midrange, death metal wall of noise. Digital distortion has a additional metallic, raspy sound which works nicely for heavy metal, grunge, or reliving your 80's hair band days. Analog tube distortion gives an excellent, all-around rock tone, such as the sound of a Marshall stack cranked to the MAX.
Help with Fulltone guitar pedal!?
Hey guys,

Does anyone have any experience with these pedals?
I would like a clean distortion, high on the mids. I play mostly punk/rock. (power chords and barre chords, with a little solo here and there
)
Thanks!!
The reviews on both are very good... from a spec perspective, they seem to be pretty similar, and able to get good tone... so why not spend the extra 20$ and get the Fulldrive?
It seems like the second one would have the extra capability of the whole solo thing, a lot easier than the first, it has that boost knob already.
Seems like they really worked on building in a lot of headroom - that's a good thing, that's really important for getting that "clean" sound - I know exactly what you mean when you say that, it's something I look for myself!
One of the reviews mentions running it at higher than 9v... I would totally look into that, it could be useful towards getting more of that clean sound thing going on.... it's one of those things that most people wouldn't really notice or care about, but I think you and I are on the same page here.
I haven't played it myself. Thinking about it, now. I did just buy a Seymour Duncan Tweakfuzz, though, so I'm going to spend some time with that first. =)
